Audrey Hepburn is one of the most famous fashion icons of the last
century and her simple yet fabulous sense of style is admired to this
day.
After winning an Oscar in 1953 for Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn became
one of the most photographed actresses of all time. Hepburn is often referred
to by the fashion media as the most important ‘style icon’ of the 20th
century. The style of dress featured by Hepburn in her films strongly
influenced the fashion of the period as her clothes and accessories were
widely copied.
And that little black dress? This essential to everyone’s wardrobe
began with Audrey wearing it in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. She is a pillar
of today’s fashion, but she did it in a non-flashy way and didn’t even
try to draw attention to herself. The outfits just looked natural and
effortless on her that people were desperate to be like her.
Coco Chanel started the trend for pearls, but Audrey mainstreamed
them years later. Pearls are an indispensable accessory and are a
timeless piece that never has never faded. Fashions of the past are
coming back into fashion, but her two staple pieces, little black
dresses and pearls, have remained in fashion all these years. A little
black dress and pearls have always been named the pinnacle of elegance.
Audrey Hepburn: a woman, the style contained 110 examples of
Hepburn’s clothing dating from the early 1950s to the late 1980s from
both her on and off screen wardrobes. The exhibition documented not only
her screen presence but her influential personal style.
So, if you are still wondering who is this beautiful lady, I personally suggest you to read Truman Capote's book " Breakfast at Tiffany's" and the to watch the original movie with Audrey.
